An Eggcellent Eggsperiment!

Today with Easter looming, 4TE were given a challenge… In small teams could they create a protective casing fit with parachute to protect an egg from mighty drop? The teams did a fantastic job working together to conjure up such incredible and fantastic creations as you can see! Overall, we had 3 eggs suffer crackings and 4 which successfully survived the drop! It was a great bit of fun and developed our teamworking skills and a good time was had by all!

Dodge the Ball!

That’s right. And didn’t our year 4 children do well in today’s dodgeball competition hosted by Campsmount. We took two teams who competed in separate competitions. One team finished 3rd whilst the other won their group setting up a humdinger of a final against Owston. Alas, they just missed out to a pretty drilled Owston side. However, special praise is reserved for Madison who faced a 6 v 1 situation in the final and cut the deficit to 3 v 2 after some superb catching and throwing. It was a great afternoon all round and the children deserve credit for their performance.

If I had a hammer 🔨

Year 5 and 6 have been busy making their frames for their beautiful Amazon Rainforest animal artwork and writing this week. They have made their frames from recycled timber and have enjoyed designing and constructing them. Next step….decorating!

Ooh! Ahh! Animal!

In preparation for their final product, 6CC have begun drawing an endangered rainforest animal of their choice. Most of the class then started to experiment with different media to add popping colour to their animals. Awesome effort! 🐯🐵🐸

XP Calling

This week saw the whole of Y3/4 visit XP School in order to record NJS’s part of the single made as per our current expedition. A few things of note, the children represented our school superbly. During recording, they sang superbly. During a tour of a reording studio, they listened superbly and throughout the whole trip, they behaved superbly. Superb! It’s only a matter of time now before our single is released. Watch this space…

Who? With what? And where?

Maths lessons are far more enjoyable when they include a murder mystery! This week, y5 put their investigative skills to the test to solve the mystery of who murdered the young millionaire, Henry Baskerville, following a dinner party at Baskerville Hall. Our young detectives had to calculate the perimeter of all the rooms in the hall in order to generate an 8-digit code, which opened the padlocked journal of the murderer. Who needs Sherlock Holmes with y5 on the case!

Fun in the sun!

This morning 5EG chose to have an extended break time for their Flexible Friday Crew. It was so great to see the children having fun with their friends in the sunshine and playing some fab playground games.

Dodgeball drama (and victory)! 🏆🥇

Y5/6 Dodgeball Tournament @ Campsmount

On Wednesday 16th March, two teams made the trip up to Campsmount for the upper key stage 2 dodgeball tournament, neither disappointed! Demonstrating sportsmanship, teamwork and excellent communication, both teams reached the latter stages of the tournament with team A being awarded third overall.

Stories of the tournament’s final have been heard in every corner of school since Wednesday afternoon, with hero, Harry from 6CC, clinching victory from the jaws of defeat as we heroically landed a decisive shot during a one on one duel with his opponent from a rival school. We are pleased to say that even in victory, the children celebrated the effort of the opposing teams and thoroughly enjoyed the competition. Well done year 5&6!

Year 6 PE: Football ⚽️

This week in Year 6 PE, 6SO and 6CC enjoyed developing their passing skills in a mixture of skill activities and five-a-side games. Well done to all!

The ‘XP Studios’ Sessions!

This week, Years 3 and 4 finally embarked down to XP in Doncaster to record our part of the song ‘Dear World’ which has been written by all of the different schools across the trust. Everyone got the chance to experience what it takes to record a real song and got a behind the scenes look into a recording studio to see the magic that goes into creating our favourite hits. For our future smash hit, we pushed ourselves and now our hard work is done, we shall be able to revel in the fruits of our labour in the future when the song is fully produced and ready to be released. Until then, we shall wait with great anticipation!
