What makes a hero?

After learning about the Pop Art movement in the 1960s, our children have been busy creating some eye-catching Pop Art pieces, based on the professions of the experts that visited us last week. The pupils have worked extremely hard to ensure their work is vibrant, bold and exciting. Here is a small selection of their beautiful work.

Pancake Day?

This year has been extremely tough on everyone, particularly our children. In 5RS, we thought that our Crew deserved a reward for their resilience and hard work during these unprecedented times and so we decided to revisit Shrove Tuesday. It is safe to say that our children had a flipping good time!

Pancake anyone?

Victorian bread baking

What an amazing week we have had welcoming all our children back into school.

This week, we revisited some ‘lockdown’ learning’ and pulled out the Victorian recipes we created to make bread. Our recipes included many herbs which was believed to help with simple aliments. We included Rosemary, Sage and Dill. The taste test went down a treat!

Re-UNITED

After a hotly anticipated return date, our amazing pupils finally entered the grounds in earnest following an enforced absence from school. Alas, there were elbow bumps and smiles aplenty followed by a day of fun activities to reconnect with each other. It was the first time in a long time that we felt any sort of normality as not having a full compliment of children in the classroom, well, just isn’t the same. Indeed, this might be a timely reminder to say a massive ‘thank you’ and ‘well done’ to all the wonderful families who have worked tirelessly to support your children working from home. Now, we have our collective fingers crossed (and facemasks on) in the hope that the following weeks and months will allow for more freedoms for our staff, children and community. Better days are indeed ahead.

Photographs that changed the world!

Well done to all the children in years 5 and 6 for their tremendous hard work this term. They have been on a journey, exploring the development of the camera and how the world has changed as a result of iconic events, remarkable people and even several disasters!

Watch the video here to gain insight into their expedition and let them introduce you to the culmination of our journey: their rather impressive final product!

Marvellous, Mighty, Mini-beasts

This week has seen the start of our writing for the final product. We have worked extremely hard in pairs to complete different paragraphs all about moths and bees. 3HJ then critiqued each paragraph together and redrafted. The quality of writing throughout has ben phenomenal and all children have blown me away! We are so excited to reveal our products you all! Watch this space!
