Last Friday, our school took part in a pyjama day to raise funds for The Children’s Hospital Charity. We all loved rolling straight out of bed and heading into school. We designed our own onesies too!
Children’s Mental Health Week
To promote Children’s Mental Health Week all crews in Year 3 played a couple of games of ’Let’s Connect Bingo’. It was lovely to see children connecting with each other, finding others with shared interests, building new friendships and most importantly having fun! And yes – Mrs Gill loves pepperoni pizza!
3LG Royal Ballet Workshop
This week we had some very special visitors in Y3. We were joined again by Bim and Miss Wendy, as well as a professional pianist and other members of the Chance to Dance team. The workshop allowed the children to demonstrate how hard they have worked in dance over the last term.
The Royal Ballet visitors were blown away by the attitudes of the children, and highly praised how kind, caring and helpful they were towards each other. Well done 3LG!
Y3 Build Circuits
This week we have officially kicked off Case Study 1 of our new expedition The Power of Life. We will be learning all about electricity and circuits so it would be rude not to build some of our own. Yesterday we challenged the children to assemble the circuit and switch the light bulb on. We think they did a pretty great job!
Creative Collages
Super team work and communication this afternoon from year 3 who completed these wonderfully colourful collages representing the different parts of plants.
Wood Cookie Christmas Decorations
Over the last two weeks 3LG have put their DIY socks on and created some beautiful wood cookie christmas decorations. They have been using a range of materials including napkins, mod podge, plastic bags and, of course, glitter to create dazzling decorations. The children have worked gently and precisely, making sure not to rip the extremely thin napkin images.
We think the decorations are fab and will look amazing hung among twinkling lights on their Christmas trees.
Christmas Craft event
Check out the wonderful Christmas crafts Year 3 made during our community event with parents and family members. We made amazing hanging wreath decorations and Christmas cards! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and help kick of the festive season!
Visitors from the Royal Opera House
Today Y3 had the amazing opportunity to work with visitors from the Chance to Dance programme. Each class got an hour long workshop with Bim (a Royal Ballet artist) and Miss Wendy from Hazelbiz Performers Academy.
During the workshop we thought all about ice scupltures – how they look and how they might move. We focused on the word “gliding” and used this to help us move around the hall. Eventually, we turned ourselves into intertwining ice sculptures.
Y3 Go Christmas Crackers
It’s 1st December and it is fair to say we are already feeling in the Christmas spirit. The start of December saw the arrival of Zoink the Elf, who brought with him the Christmas tree and advent calendars. We had a fabulous time this morning in crew listening to Christmas music and decorating the tree.
We kicked off our festive celebrations with the Y3 Christmas Crafts Fair. We made some amazing Christmas wreaths, Christmas cards and paper snowflakes. A big thank you from the entire Y3 team to all the parents who came in and joined us this morning.
NJS Globetrotters!
Over the past two weeks, teams from years 3&4 and 5&6 have ventured to Campsmount to take part in Leger Sport basketball competitions. As always, the events were well organised and highly competitive with our children representing the school proudly. Whilst both teams achieved third, their team spirit, resilience (against incredibly tall opponents) and togetherness was inspiring. Well done to both teams!
