Our Crew definitely made a splash in their English Channel virtual challenge! The children have walked an astonishing 21 miles during lockdown, which has supported the Eden Project in planting an additional 5 trees! Incredible job 5RS!

Victorian bread baking
What an amazing week we have had welcoming all our children back into school.
This week, we revisited some ‘lockdown’ learning’ and pulled out the Victorian recipes we created to make bread. Our recipes included many herbs which was believed to help with simple aliments. We included Rosemary, Sage and Dill. The taste test went down a treat!
Re-UNITED
After a hotly anticipated return date, our amazing pupils finally entered the grounds in earnest following an enforced absence from school. Alas, there were elbow bumps and smiles aplenty followed by a day of fun activities to reconnect with each other. It was the first time in a long time that we felt any sort of normality as not having a full compliment of children in the classroom, well, just isn’t the same. Indeed, this might be a timely reminder to say a massive ‘thank you’ and ‘well done’ to all the wonderful families who have worked tirelessly to support your children working from home. Now, we have our collective fingers crossed (and facemasks on) in the hope that the following weeks and months will allow for more freedoms for our staff, children and community. Better days are indeed ahead.

World Book Day
Both the children in school and at home thoroughly enjoyed getting dressed up as their favourite book characters. The staff in school also had lots of fun recording themselves reading their favourite stories for the children to guess.

What a wonderful time 3HJ had enjoying the recent snow day! Take a look and the magnificent snowmen and ladies constructed by some of the children in our crew! Top effort which certainly deserves a lovely mug of hot chocolate!
Photographs that changed the world!
Well done to all the children in years 5 and 6 for their tremendous hard work this term. They have been on a journey, exploring the development of the camera and how the world has changed as a result of iconic events, remarkable people and even several disasters!
Watch the video here to gain insight into their expedition and let them introduce you to the culmination of our journey: their rather impressive final product!

This week has seen the start of our writing for the final product. We have worked extremely hard in pairs to complete different paragraphs all about moths and bees. 3HJ then critiqued each paragraph together and redrafted. The quality of writing throughout has ben phenomenal and all children have blown me away! We are so excited to reveal our products you all! Watch this space!
Here’s the gang!. A
quite brilliant effort from Ronnie who is this week’s superhero – he has really tried his best in every element of his learning. Alas, we the turn to Evie and Evie. The first has amassed a quite ridiculous 6661 coins on TT Rockstars over the last 7 days and the latter, has shown tremendous resilience and effort in dealing with a plethora of difficult math’s problems. Well done to all and have a great weekend everybody.

This week we have experimented with ‘Silent discussions’.
The children had to decide whether a word was either positive or negative. In our silent discussion the children were free to move around the room and write their thoughts next to the word, enabling all children to have a voice.
3HJ really enjoyed trialing this method of learning and it will definitely be used in the future.
