5HJ have become mini rainforest survival experts, writing guides full of clever tips for finding food, collecting clean water, and building safe shelters. It’s inspiring to see their survival strategies and beautiful illustrations come to life on the page!

What an amazing effort from these guys this week. Over 1211 classes entered the SumDog maths week competition with over 12,000 children around the country playing. 5HJ worked with determination to achieve 13th place with 9 children actually completely the maximum 1000 questions. I couldn’t be prouder of you all! What a team!

Yesterday, we welcomed an extra special visitor into school. Kath is a local volunteer who gives up her time to support UK charities in and around Doncaster including the homeless, food banks and women’s refuge. We presented Kath with the toiletries which were purchased by the money raised from Yr 5s bake sale back in August. She was a true inspiration to both adults and children and we have pledged to continue to support through the year.

5HJ show-cased their musical ability during last week’s performance to parents. The children have been taking part in weekly ukulele lessons with the fabulous Mr Nicklin and learnt some fabulous songs. Parents were so impressed with the talent shown! 😊
This week saw 5HJ take part in the TTRS battle England Rocks in aid of maths week. After 3 days of hard work, we were delighted to discover that 5HJ placed 192nd out of over 30,034 classes across the country. What an achievement! 🏆

Halloween crafts this week involved using hand prints to make a whole selection of ghosts, ghouls, pumpkins and devils.

This afternoon, 5HJ needed some help with their upcoming DT project to find out which soft toys are popular. We visited Y2 armed with a host of different questions and carried out market research. We will use our findings to help plan and design our rainforest sort toys!

During crew week, our guiding question was – How can crew be strengthened by acts of service to others? After holding crew sessions, Yr5 decided to litter pick whilst on our walk to Brockadale, visit The Laurels residential home to take gifts and spend time with residents as well as hold a bake sale to raise money for charity.
We are we’re blown away with the amount of donations received across Norton Campus and are excited to share that we raised a whopping £142.70. As a crew, we will decide where this money goes.

I couldn’t have been prouder of this wonderful class who were absolutely amazing during sports day today. It was a hot one but the effort they put in was tremendous! Everyone ran their hearts out and the sportsmanship was great to see, congratulating winners and cheering encouragement to those competing! 🏃♀️🏅🎽🏆
