Today with Easter looming, 4TE were given a challengeā¦ In small teams could they create a protective casing fit with parachute to protect an egg from mighty drop? The teams did a fantastic job working together to conjure up such incredible and fantastic creations as you can see! Overall, we had 3 eggs suffer crackings and 4 which successfully survived the drop! It was a great bit of fun and developed our teamworking skills and a good time was had by all!
Case Study 3 – Music
3HJ have thoroughly embraced our third and final case study. This week has seen us stacking ostinato, reading rhythms and playing them simultaneously using non-tuned percussion.
The ‘XP Studios’ Sessions!
This week, Years 3 and 4 finally embarked down to XP in Doncaster to record our part of the song ‘Dear World’ which has been written by all of the different schools across the trust. Everyone got the chance to experience what it takes to record a real song and got a behind the scenes look into a recording studio to see the magic that goes into creating our favourite hits. For our future smash hit, we pushed ourselves and now our hard work is done, we shall be able to revel in the fruits of our labour in the future when the song is fully produced and ready to be released. Until then, we shall wait with great anticipation!
Recording our charity single
Yesterday, LKS2 visited XP to record our verses of our beautiful and thought provoking charity single. As well as smashing the vocals we also had a tour of a professional recording studio. We had chance to look at the equipment needed to produce a song and even tried out some of the musical instruments too! Safe to say we need a little more practice before creating our own music!
Creative Climate Change Champions!
Today, 4TE have been extremely creative making posters about climate change! We had a great time putting all of our knowledge of how we can help save our planet into some creative pieces of work, some lovely creations from everyone!
Dear World…!
What an exciting day it has been today in preparation for another exciting day next week! Next week years 3 and 4 will be travelling off to a professional recording studio to lay down our track! Alongside other schools in the trust, we have been writing a song about looking after our planet, and here is how it is going so far!

Getting creative with classification
Well and truly in our second case study of science, the children have been developing their knowledge of classification. Initially only considering appearance as a way of grouping animals, the children later thought about diet, habitat and which animal group they belonged to. To demonstrate their knowledge of classification, they created their own classification keys to help people in the Amazon identify a species through answering a series of carefully, crafted questions.
Going round in a circles
Following their work on classification, 6CC explored the life cycles of several animal species indigenous to the Amazon Rainforest. To help teach the class about their own animal, the crew researched their animalās life cycle in groups before presenting their work to the rest of the class. Beautiful work alert!
Did someone say pancakes?
What a treat we had this morning eating these delicious pancakes in Crew! Wish we could start the day like this everyday!
Digital Leaders visit XP!
As part of their training, NJSā newly appointed Digital Leaders visited XP today to learn more about their role and how they can help not only their peers but the staff as well.
The children were divided into groups and asked to find answer to the āfantastic problemā: school staff lacking the confidence or knowledge to use new technology or apps in the classroom. After collating ideas and a rationale for why we need DLs, the children presented their ideas to their peers from other schools, an audience of at least 100! Well done to all involved! 👍🏼
