What a cracking day we have had being immersed whole heartedly into our new and exciting expedition – The Power of Life. We spent the morning hunting electrical appliances around school, thinking about the many different devices we have and use at home and ways to reduce usage. The children were also awesome at identifying renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and created wonderful anchor charts persuading people to be more sustainable! Top job guys!
Christmas fun
3HJ have had a wonderful few days enjoying all things festive starting with watching the wonderful pantomime Cinderella and having our Christmas party. We spent our last day together playing crew against crew bingo and Kahoot quizzes. All the year 3 team would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Decoupage Christmas Decorations
This week saw us making our very own Christmas decorations courtesy of XP Outdoors. All children engaged in this festive task and created a découpage wooden cookie slice by cutting characters from napkins and using sealer to create the finished look. How amazing do they look!
Wood Cookie Christmas Decorations
Over the last two weeks 3LG have put their DIY socks on and created some beautiful wood cookie christmas decorations. They have been using a range of materials including napkins, mod podge, plastic bags and, of course, glitter to create dazzling decorations. The children have worked gently and precisely, making sure not to rip the extremely thin napkin images.
We think the decorations are fab and will look amazing hung among twinkling lights on their Christmas trees.
Christmas Craft event
Check out the wonderful Christmas crafts Year 3 made during our community event with parents and family members. We made amazing hanging wreath decorations and Christmas cards! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and help kick of the festive season!
Y3 Go Christmas Crackers
It’s 1st December and it is fair to say we are already feeling in the Christmas spirit. The start of December saw the arrival of Zoink the Elf, who brought with him the Christmas tree and advent calendars. We had a fabulous time this morning in crew listening to Christmas music and decorating the tree.
We kicked off our festive celebrations with the Y3 Christmas Crafts Fair. We made some amazing Christmas wreaths, Christmas cards and paper snowflakes. A big thank you from the entire Y3 team to all the parents who came in and joined us this morning.
Sumdog Crew Competitions
Y3 have loved integrating Sumdog into our crew routines this half term. Since discovering you can win coins like on TTRS we have become quite competitive.
NJS Remembers
On Remembrance Day, LKS2 spent the day making some these beautiful remembrance day cards which included a watercolour poppy and an acrostic poem. These works of art were taken to Campsall Church and given to members of the community who attended the Remembrance service.
Chance To Dance
This week the children in year 3 were excited to take part in the launch of our Chance to Dance lessons. Our focus ballet this year is The Nutcracker. To start, the children were introduced to the main characters from the ballet and created motifs to show their personality and how they might move. It was lovely to see how all children embraced this new genre of dance and the effort they put in to perfecting their performances.
Sensational Subtraction
Over the past few weeks, year 3 have immersed themselves in all things subtraction. We are now experts at using the number line to correctly take away and today we worked together to answer a range of different problems, supporting our peers where necessary. This is the true definition if crew! Well done 3HJ 😊
