Dear World…!

What an exciting day it has been today in preparation for another exciting day next week! Next week years 3 and 4 will be travelling off to a professional recording studio to lay down our track! Alongside other schools in the trust, we have been writing a song about looking after our planet, and here is how it is going so far!

Digital Leaders visit XP!

As part of their training, NJS’ newly appointed Digital Leaders visited XP today to learn more about their role and how they can help not only their peers but the staff as well.

The children were divided into groups and asked to find answer to the ‘fantastic problem’: school staff lacking the confidence or knowledge to use new technology or apps in the classroom. After collating ideas and a rationale for why we need DLs, the children presented their ideas to their peers from other schools, an audience of at least 100! Well done to all involved! 👍🏼

Arctic Ice Scientists!

This week, in line with our expedition, “What a Wonderful World” and Guiding Question “How Can We Protect Our Beautiful Planet”, 4TE have been researching the effect of global warming on the ice in the arctic with an experiment a bit closer to home! We placed a fixed number of ice cubes in different locations around school to see how the temperature of the different locations would affect the melting of the ice. As you can see, the results were shocking!

Show and Tell!

To bookmark the end of this extremely enjoyable first half of the spring term, 4TE held a show and tell at the start of Friday. It was so lovely to see all the brilliant items so many of the children decided to bring in and to hear the stories and sentiments behind these. It was a pleasure to experience and I am extremely proud of the children not only having the confidence to stand up before the class, but to also feel comfortable to bring in such precious and cherished items and to share these with everyone.

On a final note, I hope everyone has an absolutely lovely half term break and I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

In The Zone!

Today, 4TE have been practising their reading skills with some test questions about our key text – ‘The Last Bear’. We have had to get in the zone and be detectives to uncover the secrets within the text, and figure out the answers to some tricky test-like questions! We have really been working super hard as you can see!

There and Back Again…

Last week, as previously documented… 4TE embarked on the mighty adventure to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Well, this week we have been planning to write about our trip. We aim to write some super detailed descriptions of what we experienced and these are some of our plans so far! We’re hopeful of some great pieces of writing to come!

Wonderful Wildlife from our Wide World!

Today, Years 3 and 4 ventured off on an adventure to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park! In line with our expedition ‘What a Wonderful World’, we explored lots of the different wildlife from all around the world! 4TE (pictured above standing by the fence, not on the grass!) had a super time looking at all the different creatures; we saw tigers, polar bears, wallabies, monkeys, and meerkats! It was a fantastic day and really put into perspective for everyone as to why we need to look after our planet, and protect our furry (and sometimes not so…) friends!
