Over the past few weeks, year 3 have immersed themselves in all things subtraction. We are now experts at using the number line to correctly take away and today we worked together to answer a range of different problems, supporting our peers where necessary. This is the true definition if crew! Well done 3HJ 😊
Today 3LG have been extremely excited to welcome an expert visitor into school. We talked all about the Second World War and the children asked lots incredible questions.
As part of our work towards creating our final product we have been thinking about why it is important to share stories from World War Two. We cannot wait to start writing about all the information we have learned today!
Y3 have had a spooky start back to school today. Everybody dazzled in their amazing halloween costumes. We had everything from pumpkins to witches and skeletons to werewolves.
After sharing our exciting half term stories in crew, we spent the day completing a number of halloween themed tasks such as making our own halloween characters, designing pumpkins and using our maths knowledge to solve a mystery.
This week during our Flexible Friday crew session year 3 enjoyed taking part in scary Halloween Kahoot quizzes. I wonder who has the fastest finger in Crew Jenkins?? 😜
Our expedition this week has centred on learning all about The Blitz. Children supported each other to create their own anchor charts, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the subject ranging from how it was named, areas that were bombed and why the blackout was so important. Super work year 3.
On Friday afternoon, 5RS participated in a dance workshop led by two members of the Royal Ballet. The children worked extremely hard, under expert guidance, to refine their Alice in Wonderland dance sequence, which they are going to perform outside the Cast Theatre a week on Saturday!
Today, year 3 spent time estimating where numbers would go on a number line to 100. An added bonus was that we drew all over the tables. Children used their reasoning skills to locate numbers and the use of mathematical vocabulary was amazing. Well done 3HJ!
During immersion week, Year 3 began their expedition learning all about World War Two. Check out our beautiful artwork creating a silhouette of the London skyline during the Blitz. Here we used water colours to paint the background and drew the skyline on black paper! How effective do they look?
Yesterday, Y3 had a wonderful afternoon in our first community event. We were very excited to invite parents and carers into school to hold a games afternoon, taking part in games of bingo and even trying our hand at “Beetle Drive”, a popular game among children during World War Two. Thank you so much to all those who attended.
