Recording our charity single

Yesterday, LKS2 visited XP to record our verses of our beautiful and thought provoking charity single. As well as smashing the vocals we also had a tour of a professional recording studio. We had chance to look at the equipment needed to produce a song and even tried out some of the musical instruments too! Safe to say we need a little more practice before creating our own music!

Recording Artists

Yesterday LKS2 headed to XP to record our section of Dear World. We worked really hard, sang our hearts out and it paid off with the final recording sounding superb. We also got a tour of a professional recording studio, and had a talk all about the equiptment and work that goes into making the music we hear on the radio. To finish the day we even got to try out some of the instruments in the studio, and had particular fun with the drum set!

Digital Leaders visit XP!

As part of their training, NJS’ newly appointed Digital Leaders visited XP today to learn more about their role and how they can help not only their peers but the staff as well.

The children were divided into groups and asked to find answer to the ‘fantastic problem’: school staff lacking the confidence or knowledge to use new technology or apps in the classroom. After collating ideas and a rationale for why we need DLs, the children presented their ideas to their peers from other schools, an audience of at least 100! Well done to all involved! 👍🏼

Y5 Celebration of Learning

This week, the children’s hard work during their first expedition, The Magic of Motion, was acknowledged by their celebration of learning presentation, which also gave the pupils the opportunity to unveil their final product: an information board that will be displayed at one of the local train stations. Throughout the event, all of the students in 5RS demonstrated impressive presentation skills. They were extremely mature and spoke knowledgably with great confidence, which was wonderful to observe!

Division using a number line

This week saw 3HJ grappling with division. We used number lines to help solve a range of worded problems involving the children jumping in groups of 10. They worked collaboratively, supporting each other and I was astonished how quickly 3HJ grasped this new and tricky concept. Amazing work from everyone!

Donny Rovers PE Madness

This term 3LG are lucky enough to be coached by Donny Rovers for their PE lessons every week. We have already had lots of fun developing our multi-sports skills, and the children’s competitive side has definitely emerged! We can’t wait to be outside playing even more exciting games next week.
