Top-class angling!

This week, year 6 have been investigating the different types of angles. 6CC especially enjoyed the angles game where player 1 asked player 2 to draw an angle using only a whiteboard pen and ruler. Depending on how far away their drawing was, player 1 might win points the closer their estimate was to their target angle. Lots of competition and smiles this week!

Since we have been back, 6CC have worked hard to improve the standards of their work and presentation. One such crew member who has gone above and beyond is Jamie – he has worked tirelessly to refine his handwriting to no end in the hope that he will receive a pen license in the coming weeks (look at that pride!). Keep working hard, Jamie!

Sew, sew, sew and away we go, go, go!

Over the past couple of weeks, the children have been working hard designing their own puppets. They have created their own character based on the famous puppet show, Punch and Judy, practiced cutting materials accurately and attempting to sew a running stitch. The children have pushed through the challenges that come with a task like this and demonstrated that together every one achieves more.

This year has been extremely tough on everyone, particularly our children. In 5RS, we thought that our Crew deserved a reward for their resilience and hard work during these unprecedented times and so we decided to revisit Shrove Tuesday. It is safe to say that our children had a flipping good time!

Hitting the ground running!

What a week! 6CC have hit the ground running this week. With everyone feeling excited to be back inside our classroom, Crew 6CC have worked extremely hard this week. Mrs Gyte, Mrs Doy and I have been incredibly proud and relieved to have our class reunited this week!

Central to our expedition this term, we have welcomed four emergency service heroes to our school to speak to children about their vital roles in our society and to be interviewed by our children. Below are some photos taken from our question generating session:

Inspired by two of our local experts this week (local emergency service workers), 6CC undertook the bleep test on Thursday afternoon during P.E. to see if they could qualify for the Police service and Fire and Rescue Service – level 8.5. Many of the children gave it their best shot with a few even surpassing level 12! Crazy effort! 💪🏻😁👏🏻

Victorian bread baking

What an amazing week we have had welcoming all our children back into school.

This week, we revisited some ‘lockdown’ learning’ and pulled out the Victorian recipes we created to make bread. Our recipes included many herbs which was believed to help with simple aliments. We included Rosemary, Sage and Dill. The taste test went down a treat!
