What an absolutely glorious day we had visiting Bridlington. We played in the sand, ate ice creams and had a sand castle building competition before enjoying a huge picnic. In the afternoon, we visited the John Bull rock factory and made a stick of peppermint rock. Such a wonderful way to end the school year! These kids are amazing!
I think it is fair to say 3LG had quite the adventure on Friday.
We set off from school heading for Bridlington, only to get to Beverly and have to disembark the coach. We owe a massive thank you to Beverly High School for putting us up for an hour on their school field. The children of 3LG and 4GC were a credit to and great representives of NJS, showing beautiful manners and respect. Thankfully, after an hour having a play on Beverly High School field and eating ice creams we were back on the road and heading to the beach.
Once we arrived and lunches had been eaten, it was time for the real fun to begin. 3LG were in their element on the sand, from digging holes and building volcanoes to being buried in the sand everybody was having a fabulous time.
Then came the main reason for our visit, the John Bull factory. Rolling the rock was a highlight (as well as the biscuit and sweet tasting) and every child got their own stick of rock to roll and take home.
What an amazing morning we had completing our very first NJS sports day. I couldn’t be prouder of how all the year 3 children showed team spirt and sportsmanship whether they came first in their race or not! Super effort and determination on such a hot day! We are all waiting with baited breath to discover which class won!
3LG had a fabulous day last week at their very first NJS sports day. Every child tried their hardest, from sprints to egg and spoon races and wellie wang to kick ball, 3LG threw them selves into everything.
Each and every member of the crew displayed amazing sportsmanship, cheering on their friends and congratuating everybody after each event. Well done 3LG!

This week, year 3 have been studying pop art by inspirational artist Andy Warhol. We completed a gallery walk, making praises and wonders about some of his most iconic pieces. As you can see, we also had a go at creating our very own pop art pictures using sweets and sugar as inspiration. Check out the vibrant colours and the attention to detail. Great job 3HJ!
A brave team of year three and four children ventured to Askern Cricket Club yesterday for a Campsmount cricket competition. Competing against three other local schools, the children all performed magnificently, demonstrating good tactical awareness and skill. Most of all, their sportsmanship and respect for their team members and the opposition must be celebrated as they recognised the sterling efforts of their competitors during their innings. Well done, team! 👍
Year 3 are taking their very first NJS sports day extremely seriously and what fun we’ve had practicing a range of track and field events this week from sprinting to hurdles and throwing. Some phenomenally talented children have come to light but what really stood out more, was the way the children supported and congratulated each other! We really can’t wait until we can compete in front of our family members!
Last week, 3HJ enjoyed spending the afternoon testing a range of different kind of sweets as part of our market research to decide which sweets were popular and which weren’t a hit. Haribo Tangfastics seems to get the seal of approval based on qualities such as appearance, taste and texture. Surprisingly, my favourite – jelly babies – came out quite low!
Yesterday we had a blast in 3LG as we spent the afternoon testing a range of different sweets. As we go into case study 3, where we will be making our very own sweets, it would have been rude to not do any product testing. We tried everything from flying saucers to strawberry laces and marshmallows to Haribos, discussing what we liked about their appearance taste and texture.
