Last week, year 5 embarked upon case study 2 (physics) discovering why unsupported objects fall to the ground. Here we are completing 2 scientific investigations using Newton meters to measure the weight of objects and investigating how the mass of an object affects how fast it falls to the ground.
National Space Centre
Our field work this week took in search of all things space. 5HJ spent a fantastic day exploring the museum to build background knowledge and engaging with a whole host of hands on, interactive activities. It was a struggle, but we managed to climb the 42 meter high Rocket Tower! What a wonderful day!
Sheep heart dissection
As part of our science case study in our Happy Healthy Me expedition, we have been looking at how to be the healthiest versions of ourselves. On Wednesday, year 5 visited Campsmount to dissect a sheep’s heart and use microscopes in the science labs. The visit sparked genuine interest and curiosity in our children who found the tasks exciting and meaningful. Thanks to Campsmount for welcoming us into school
Year 5 Heart Dissection
As part of our current Expedition, we have been looking into how we can better look after our bodies. We got the opportunity to visit Campsmount to dissect a sheep’s heart and explore how the heart helps to keep our body fit and healthy. We will also be finding out how we can better take care of our hearts!
Year 5 Science- Dissolving
During Science Week, Y5 were completing their final case study where they were exploring the different states of matter. One element was investigate dissolving and how we can speed up the process.
