Happy Pancake Day

Happy pancake day from Y3! Yesterday for crew we had a lovely morning eating pancakes. With a choice of either nutella, golden sugar, strawberry syrup and the classic lemon and sugar we were spoilt for choice.

A big thank you to Mrs Jenkins who spent her Monday night making 70 crepes!!

Pancake Day!

Today 6EG enjoyed making, and eating, pancakes! The children cooked them and chose from a range of toppings to enjoy a sweet treat. Photos taken by our own class photographer, Shay!

Red Nose Day 2023

To celebrate Comic Relief this year, we are inviting you to come to school on Friday 17th March dressed in red with a suggested donation of £1 (to be paid on ParentPay).

As part of Red Nose Day we are launching our very own Design a T-shirt Competition! If you want to take part, all you need to do is design your very own Red Nose Day t-shirt and bring it with you on Friday 17th March.

Get creative and design it in any way you want

You might want to draw a picture, paint it or even create a t-shirt you can wear on the day. Each crew will vote for their winning design to be entered into a whole school competition.

Have you got what it takes to be our winning design? Good Luck!

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Mental Health Week

Check this display out that Mrs Bradbury has cultivated as per our work during mental health week!

Mental Health Week

This week has been Mental Health Week and here at NJS we have learnt about the importance of having good mental health and how we can help ourselves and others when we feel like we are struggling. Year 6 finished off the week in a lovely way and gave postcards including positive messages to our crew members to make them feel valued.

Year 5/6 Expert Visitor!

Today, Year 5 and 6 welcomed human rights barrister Peter Carter into school to speak to us about his amazing career and the history of civil rights – which linked to our expedition where we have been learning about Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. The children created some excellent questions to ask Peter about the cases he has dealt with in his career and listened intently throughout his presentation.

Mental Health Week

This week the charity ‘Place to Be’ have celebrated children’s mental health week to raise awareness in the local community. This morning Y6 discussed the impact of poor mental health and how a small positive comment to someone can make a world of difference. In crew, all the children wrote a postcard to someone else in the class with a positive affirmation to put a smile on someone’s face.

We have a winner!

Congratulations to Jack from 3LG who won the Valentine Treat Box put together by Mrs Winkley as part our fundraising towards the Bear for Leeds Children’s Hospital. Thank you to everyone who took part in this worthy cause. We raised £312 at the NJS! Wow!
