Getting creative with classification
Well and truly in our second case study of science, the children have been developing their knowledge of classification. Initially only considering appearance as a way of grouping animals, the children later thought about diet, habitat and which animal group they belonged to. To demonstrate their knowledge of classification, they created their own classification keys to help people in the Amazon identify a species through answering a series of carefully, crafted questions.
Going round in a circles
Following their work on classification, 6CC explored the life cycles of several animal species indigenous to the Amazon Rainforest. To help teach the class about their own animal, the crew researched their animal’s life cycle in groups before presenting their work to the rest of the class. Beautiful work alert!
